Dear Mr Medawar

Dear Mr Medawar

Case AUTH/1427/3/03: Promotion of Seroxat - Reactive key messages and Issues Document dated 19 December 2001

Thank you for your letter of 10 March in which you submit a complaint under the Code of Practice for the Pharmaceutical Industry regarding the above.

I note that you are disappointed that your concerns about the above document were not addressed as an integral part of your earlier complaint which was about what Mr Chandler had said. The reasons for our view were set out in our previous correspondence (letters dated 29 January and 12 February, copies enclosed). The Authority’s role in relation to the Code is set out in the Constitution and Procedure for the Authority. There is no evidence that GlaxoSmithKline has failed to comply with its undertaking.

The matter has now been taken up with GlaxoSmithKline UK Limited as a fresh complaint and we will let you know the outcome of our enquiries in due course. In order that it might understand the background to this complaint I have sent GlaxoSmithKline copies of the recent correspondence between Social Audit and the Authority.

It would be helpful if you would provide an electronic copy of your letter of complaint either by email to [email protected] or on disk.

Yours sincerely

Heather Simmonds (Mrs)
