I have been taking Effexor for six months now and I can't get to a good level either. The withdrawls, like the room is spinning and or a drunken state is so unbareable. I take it for Generalized Anxiety Disorder and Depression, I have ADD and my MD's initial thought was that we may be able to get to a dose of Effexor that might help all the above conditions. Wrong, I have been reading up and with my own experience. I am going back to my MD and I will suggest going on Prozac, Ritalin and Halidol.
