I have panic disorder which recently became too difficult to deal with so am now on Cipralex which has made me feel much better (it took about 3 weeks to start working). I don't say the negative feeling are wiped out but I feel more normal and I suffered absolutely NO side effects. I was given Cipramil beforehand and it was awful - many side effects like getting terrible heat feelings through my whole body, feeling anxious, vomiting, yawning, and generally not feeling myself in my head. I have also just changed my shrink - the first one I went to seemed cold to me,,,,I found someone else and it is so good to have someone who I feel connected with. By the way I will start Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (which my shrink says is absolutely vital that I do) - I think it is absolutely necessary to do this to try to control the negative feelings that come into my head before going out etc. Years ago I was given Xanax which worked very very well, but now I'm told it is too addictive to use, however my shrink gave me some 0.25 only to be taken as an SOS. So far I haven't felt the need to take one. It is a good feeling to know I always have something as an SOS just in case. Anyone who reads this with similar problems - it is vital that you find a shrink who really cares and talks to you and understands and doesn't just dish out the pills. My previous shrink even said that he thinks the therapy doesn't work - which I know is ridiculous - so change to a different doctor whenever necessary - I don't think anyone should get such help from a general family doctor - you must go to a psychiatrist who deals with these kind of problems. It is vital.
