I was just wondering if anyone with a past history of taking Celexa, has ever experienced joint pain and swelling of the fingers and finger joints bilaterally? (not the knuckles or palm of hand.) I have no family history or personal history of rheumatoid arthritis, and no other physical problems. I was taking 40mg a day for 3 months when this started in late September. (It's now mid November).Pain was bad upon waking up every morning and joinnts were very tender. I had a hard time holding coffee cup and opening things, couldn't carry things because I couldn't close my hands more than a large "C" shape on both sides. I've recently stopped Celexa to see what would happen, and joints seem to be improving. That's the only thing I could think of that could be causing the problem.

By the way, to others who have had withdrawal problems...Celexa has helped me a lot on fairly low dose of 20-40mg/day. I've taken it for about 3-6 months to relieve depression, a few times over about a 4 year period. I think it's a wonderful drug due to the limited side effects. Up until this joint event, I've never noticed any bad side effects like other antidepressants. I'm not even convinced this joint problem is due to Celexa, I just can't think of anything else. Please comment if you have noticed any finger joint swelling and pains. Thanks.
