RUN! - Don't walk - FROM taking Effexor or Effexor XR. I took Effexor XR for depression and that is another story - it was horrible to come off of. As far as hormones, I have never heard of anyone prescribing Effexor for menopause. I used to take synthetic hormones for menopause, but my interist had me stop them.
