I was put on sertraline last year after trying numerous antidepressants that I was anable to take due to untolerable side effects. I'd not been on them for long and was having thoughts of suicide, I was told to stop them and try something else. I thought I'd beaten my depression and went travelling, came home still depressed, saw my consultant......Who put me on sertraline again - (at the time I hadn't realised Id taken them before) I'd been taking them for around 3 weeks, in a gr8 relationship and I knew yhere was no way that I should be having these (again) thoughts of suicide and desperately went to seek help from my GP. I was told to stop them and wait for another appt with my consultant. Only this was too late,....4 days after taking Sertraline I stabbed myself twice. After undergoing major surgery, I have lost my friends and my boyfriend and some of my family. Have also lost faith in mediction and most certainly with my Consultant! I think consultants are commission based with drug companies - all they care about is their nice big bonouses and cars, not us the sufferers! You have yourself booked in for an hours appt. and the most they give you is 15mins! They cant seem to wait to get you out and on to a new drug (thats going to line their wallets-despite what effect they have on your health) My consultant was aware of my thougths of suicide the first time I'd taken them last year, but failed to see this year, I know I should have probably remembered about them sooner, but I was not the one with my medical notes in front of me!!

Has this, or any thing similar happened to anyone else?
