your story sure rings the bell!! i was also told that ssr's wouldn't cause weight gain, "just the opposite" the doctors told me.

in 1989, i started to take prozac. i was 108 pounds and stood at 5'5". after a few months on prozac, i gained 25 pounds. i switched to another antidepressant and i gained even more weight! by 1996, i weighed 155 pounds! the doctor then put me on paxil and my weight went to 175 pounds. i have been on celexa for the past 2 months and i am now 190 pounds!!! each time the doctor switched my medication, i was told that the medication would not cause weight gain.i am now stuck taking celexa because people warn me not to go off of it, "your depression will only get worse". i told my doctor and he mentioned switching to lexipro because it won't cause weight gain and has minimal side effects. i told him i would think about it but after doing research on the net, i know now not to put my trust into what he or any other psychiatrist says. i agree with you that the drug companies are reveling in the fact that they have people hooked on these medications. they know that you will gain alot of weight from their antidepressants which in turn causes your depression to deepen, so you have to continue taking their drugs.

and since we are on the subject of bottom line drug companies, have you ever seen a fat pharmacuetical sales rep? i think not! they are not stupid enough to take these @#$%ing drugs!!!
