Hi, i had the very bad flu like symptons on my first week of weithdrawing from Effexor XL, plus an agonising sore throat. I took some Paramol painkillers - mixture of Paracetomol and Codeine which really helped. I doubt your doctor would advise this but it helped me! They are strong painkillers which i have for period pain but they really helped. Available over the counter.
