I have been on cipramil now for nearly a year, and yes, it has helped with my depression a lot, although I still get boughts of it, it just isn't as bad. But today I found out that it slows down weight loss, and I originall said to my doctor that I am trying to lose weight, and when I get depressed I break my diet - so, why did he put me on pills that would make it harder for me to lose weight? After advice I am now going to switch to 5-hydroxy tryptophan which is the natural equivalent - then my seretonin will be able to release naturally and I will be back on track with losing weight, whilst aslo keeping my depression under control. If you are trying to lose weight and are on cipramil, I suggest you get further advice like I did! If I hadn't of read this in the Atkins diet book, I would have never known and would have got more depressed at not losing weight!
