Following surgery in September 1998 I suffered Chronic Fatigue, Severe Iron Deficiency Anaemia, Chronic Asthma, and Magnesium Deficiency all of which were undiagnosed until June, 2001. Unfortunately during this time on the many occasions I went to visit my medical practitioner seeking help for my increasing predicament only to be told that I was suffering from anxiety (which after two years of being deprived of minerals and oxygen I am sure would be a normal reaction). By February 2001 I gave in and said that if that was all that was on offer I was reduced to accepting it. I was prescribed Aropax. Taking this drug was the worst thing I have ever done. I only ever took 1/2 tablet each day but on the many occasions I tried to come off it I found that the withdrawal was nearly impossible. When I eventually found a medical practitioner who was able to diagnose my real medical problems he said that I really was suffering from anxiety as well - a natural thing after the battle I had had to get any reasonable help. He has over the last six weeks helped me to slowly give up the Aropax. I suffered with bad muscle cramps and pain during the withdrawal period and he gave me magnesium and vitamin c through a drip once a week to help alleviate the pain. I am now attending a relaxation centre where I am learning how to deal naturally with the anxiety all of this has created in my body. Carmel. 2nd July, 2003.
