Oh, bless you, bless you Janet for putting this post on the Internet! I have been on Effexor for more than a year. It has made me so terribly sleepy all the time that I have spent many weekends where I have slept12-15 hours per day and could not stay awake at work without downing many, many cans of Coke a day. Every time I complained about it, my psychiatrist would raise the dosage until I was at 300 mg. Finally, my family doctor suggested I change to Wellbutrin--but I had to taper off the Effexor first. I finally got down to 38 mg., then to nothing. Then it began!! I went back to the doctor with symptoms of nausea, dizziness, nervousness, violent, vivid nightmares. He also said I had a sinus infection. He had no clue and neither did I. I thought I was losing my mind! This has been going on for about 7 days now, and it has been the worst hell I have ever been through!! Then I decided to look up side effects of withdrawal on the Internet and found your article. Thank you, thank you. I now realize all of this illnes is due to the withdrawal from the Effexor. I felt like I was going to end up in a mental hospital, but I am so glad to know that this may soon be coming to an end and that there may be life after Effexor. This has made me feel like hanging in there for a while yet! Wish someone(like my doctor) had told me about this in the beginning.

Ruth
