I stopped taking Effexor after I'd only been on it for about 4 months. I didn't have any physical side effects - but emotionally I was all over the place! Uncontrollable crying, shouting - not necessarily when anyone was there - and lots of anger for about two weeks. When I told my psychiatrist (who has been brilliant) he said, "Yes, they can make you a bit irritable." A bit irritable would be something of an understatement - ask my poor, long-suffering husband!!
