12 April 2005 Dear Mr Medawar, Thank you for your letter of 9 April. You ask how we managed to avoid possible conflicts arising from my recreational interest in the stockmarket. The answer was by instructing our stockbroker not to deal in shares in pharmaceutical or associated industries. During my time on CSM, and as its Chairman, I abided by the Code of Practice for members of the medicines advisory structure.
