This is a quick note to acknowledge, with many thanks, your letter of 18th February, responding to my letter to M. Sauer of 2nd December 1997. As your letter arrived just a few days after publication of our new website it was, of course, too late to include - but I shall post it to the ether soon.

Thank you very much for telling me that an evaluation of the risk of dependence on SSRI antidepressants has been initiated. Assuming that this evaluation will begin with some hard questions about long-term efficacy, I very much welcome this news.

I may respond at greater length when I've had time to study the detail of the attachment you sent, and as and when more data arrives at our end. In the meantime, thank you for letting us know about EMEA's interest and concern.
